You could try the following methods for recovery:
Disk Doctor type tool for evening out scuffs on the suface
Dip in boiling water then polish off after
Toothpaste as its a light abrasive to polish out scratches.
I havn't tried Autosol, T Cut or Maars cream yet but they may work
too.
Of course if the alumininum substrate is holed around the data, then
data is lost so will be beyond repair.
