The OP may want to have a look at the Pleiades range at SpanI was just thinking how wonderful life was, when "ric" <publicmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> opened his gob and said:
Hi, Got a mate who wants a reliable external HDD to share between Mac and PC. Can anyone recommend one that doesn't have crappy cooling that's going to kill the internal drive eventually? Odie, if you're around, are there any that you don't hate? Ric
Odie advised me about an external h/d.
He steered me clear if branded ones, says they have inadequate cooling.
He advised these http://www.span.com/catalog/ people for some decent kit. He also likes Seagate h/ds.
I got an external case with a 300G Seagate.
http://www.span.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=20_32 not cheap but good. I have a LAN/USB2 version with a Seagate.
