Worrying, but not surprising. IME most big organizations have a "we're always right" attitude - even banks (see the links in the post by jjamies@ in the Verified By Visa thread).


About 20 years ago my wife had an account with one of the home shopping catalogues and kept getting letters saying she owed them money. Despite numerous phone calls, and the fact that our bank statement proved that she had paid, she eventually got a letter threatening legal action (and credit blacklisting) from the Financial Director. She tried to phone him but was told that the arrogant tosser "doesn't speak to customers".

I forget how we resolved it but nowadays I'd just see them in court, then sue the arse off them. Back then of course people didn't have the right to see credit blacklists so if you got on one it could be nigh on impossible to get off them.
