Given that the OPs mouse has been tried on two different PCs with the same results I'd say that satisfies the criteria of something being faulty whether it's drivers or hardware. Before sending it back I would check for updated drivers and try the latest that are available but that's about it. If it doesn't work properly on two PCs then it should be returned. If it worked on one and not the other then that is a different story.

So from your tone of post I take it you've never returned anything and accept any and all given problems as your responsibility?

LOL. I have returned many *faulty* items. But I have always endeavoured to provide evidence, to a professional standard, to back up my claims that the item did have a design, manufacturing or component defect. Such a claim could, ultimately, end up in a small claims court, after all.

Particularly if I am insisting on a refund, rather than repair or replacement.

If I want to argue that it is a supplied driver and not hardware problem, then I want evidence to show that it most likely is. There can then be no argument about a repair or replacement being acceptable - unless they are offering to repair or replace the driver and not the hardware..

Tests on two PCs can indeed be a good test - but this is a tad undermined if they are the same make and model and/or basically the same configuration. It can be simple enough to show that it is probably a driver problem, by using two machines with different OS.
