I worked at Comet for a very short time and found they would either reapir
the item for you with their own Comet staff or they would send it off for
you to the manufacturer - are they telling you to send it off directly to
the manufacturer?

It probably adds a few days going via Comet to get it sent there and back
compared with going to the manfacturer direct.

... its less than 28 days old and was told it has to be sent away to the manufacturer as my warrantee is with them surely as the product isnt fit for purpose and is less than 28 days old im entitled to either a refund or replacement? ... Any problems with the manufacturer are between Comet and the manufacturer - your contract is with Comet to sell you goods that are fit for purpose. ...
