Re: Redundancies@PPI Learning formerly Spring IT Training

Heard that the US side want to sell on the whole of the UK PPI
Training side as it is not at all profitable, and losing lots of
money. TAPs is just one of many training qualifications, but I think
that IITT accreditationl depends on who is the accrediting body I
guess and how imapratial it is, and how they enforce membership across
the board for all members.

The company I used to work for went the IITT route about 7 years ago. This
was in the early days before TAP was part of the qualification. When TAP was
added we found it did not really work very well for basic technical training
e.g. teaching delegates to program from scratch. Can't really remember why
but I vaguely remember we got some sort of temporary exemption from TAP.
Don't think this is possible now though.

Oh, and as a bit more of a co-incidence the company I worked for decided to
outsource all their training to Spring making their internal trainers
redundant. I think they regretted it very quickly!

Heard they are making all but 2 of the UK London Accounts staff
redundant and Accounts are being moved to USA. I hear they only have
about a dozen full time trainers left and these are apps and techies,
not filling any places only using freelancers or agencies.

Training suppliers are having to wait a long time for their money now
upto 60+ days, will it speed thjings up if they go to USA?

Any news on how other training companies are going.

Lets use this news group to promote the good and damn the crap!!

Any comments on sensible exams to take (apart from m-soft techie
stuff), what about the Institute of IT Training (IITT) TAP
qualifications or MOS Experts?

Friend - Bit of a coincidence,Ive just started looking at news groups
and I work for a company that is looking to go TAPs because they want
to join the IITT, but one of our staff who went to PPI couple of weeks
ago had a freelance trainer who was not TAPs or had any training
qualification, they said that even though PPI had Gold Accreditation
or something like that, none of the full time apps trainers had any
current training qualification. So we are thinking of applying without
any TAPs etc stuff, what works for one should work for all my boss
says. Anyone got any thoughts, which is the best qualification to
pursue for a company or an individual?

Newsgirl - Tnx for the information, sure is a coincidence, if you
hear anything else let us know please. Doesnt go well wen big
companies start going wrong, but there is a lot of competition out
there just waintin to step in, and best of luck with IITT and TAPs if
you go for it, but your boss does have a good point.
