I see Palm have announced the Palm T|X with WiFi. Since I'm currently in the market for a new Palm, is this worth the money, or should I carry on with my current plan which is to pick up a second-hand T3 from ebay?

I reckon the T3. The new palm has the same size screen but is
pysically larger, it has twice the memory, it has a slower processor
(almost 100MHz slower than the T3), no voice notes (which I use a lot)
and most of the software you get with it you can buy for the T3. The
only thing I can see that it has over the T3 that might make a major
difference is the wireless built-in but that'll suck the battery
quickly. There's no details on battery life anywhere that I could
see, so it's hard to judge that.

So still, palm don't make a machine that I reckon is better than the
T3.

I agree generally with Ian, but for a couple of points.

I really like my T3, and if it died I'd probably replace it with another one (partly because of the universal connector accessories I already own) but when compared to the T|X it has a couple of disadvantages related to WiFi.

The T3 cannot use WiFi and an SD card together, so this limits transferring large files wirelessly; and you can't use bluetooth and WiFi at the same time, I think later devices can.

T3 battery life is bad (especially as they age) so the "slower" processor may be a real benefit, I'd like to see performance and battery benchmarks before saying there was only a downside to the slower processor. Being a newer generation processor may mean you can't compare just by clock frequency alone. And it may be overclockable, my T3 sure is.

But, T3s are cheap secondhand so depending on your use, they can be excellent value for money.
