Hi Francis,
Apologies for the delay in replying, but I have been away this week..
Warm reset gets the Palm going again, and loses nothing. However, as soon as
I went near the corrupt file the device locked up as before.
Eventually I bit the bullet and did a total wipe of the Palm, and restored
the contents from my PC backup. I'm pleased to say that it restored the Palm
to exactly its previous state - it's good to see a piece of backup software
doing this well, and I shall be less wary of wipe and restore in the future.
It does point out the importance of regular backups though......
