Emily's MacBook is showing a 'Service Battery' message all of a sudden.
I've tried resetting the SMC, but no luck.
Is this likely to be a duff battery (it's 4 years old), or something
wrong with the MacBook? Messages on the interweb suggest it could be
either.
Anybody here seen this?
Cheers.
Yep, it's a standard warning once the battery can no longer be charged
to within a certain percentage of it's 'new' load.
It's usually to do with the number of charging cycles. Eventually it
will change from 'Service Battery' to 'Replace Battery'.
Mine is at 'Replace Battery' but I still get 2.5 hours of usable time
for each charge but mine has over 1050 charge cycles over 28 months or
so.
Odd - mine isn't at replace battery yet, but I get barely more than an
hour if I don't do anything stressful on it.
It is on:
Cycle Count: 706
Condition: Replace Soon
