I think I saw a reference from someone the other day to startup delays.
In the last week or so my iMac has started to show odd behaviour on
startup - basically, it shows the initial grey screen with an Apple
logo, then instead of the blue screen it shows a very pale blue screen
for about five minutes, then the blue screen and the boot menu as
normal.
A quick Google revealed nothing obvious. Does anyone know what might be
causing this and how I can fix it?
I've not a clue what might be causing it.
But my first attempts to solve the problem would involve getting a
maintenence app and running all standard `fix my Mac' jobs, including
flushing caches with the deepest cleaning options going. If you do
that, my experience is such that I'd say you *have* to reboot twice
before logging on to avoid strange hiccups.
Then I'd look for anomalies - smells like your Mac /might/ be trying to
find something while booting, and has to wait for the attempt to time
out.
Using that thought for inspiration, can you come up with a culprit?
If you get no joy there, here's another thought: any anomalies in the
software installed, or in the configuration of any of it?
Rowland.
