Compressor has Apple Qmaster which allows better use of available cores
by setting up instances for a local cluster. FCP is poor at using
multiple cores so FCS3 and Snow Leopard's new features could be really
good.

Slightly worrying is the absence of any info about Final Cut's future.

They'd be *insane* to drop it wouldn't they? Or do you just mean when
is the next version out?

That day would be today, for those not watching the Apple Store...

FCP 7 details: <http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/>

Won't work on Intel graphics, or PPC machines.

Minimum system version is 10.5.6, so it doesn't require Snow Leopard
after all. No mention of 64-bit or other details which might benefit
from Snow Leopard.

The minimum of 128 MB VRAM doesn't seem to impose any additional
limitations - all Intel Macs with dedicated ATI or NVIDIA graphics
chipsets or cards have at least that much VRAM. Ah - it won't work on
some cards supplied with the Xserve.

NVIDIA 9400M integrated graphics is a point of confusion. Support is
implied as it is an "ATI or NVIDIA graphics processor" and isn't "Intel
integrated graphics", but it should fail on the VRAM requirement.

Assming the 9400M is OK, and ignoring Color (which requires a high-end
machine), the latest Final Cut Studio should work on all Mac models
introduced in 2009 (including the current Mac Mini), aluminium unibody
MacBook, late 2008 MacBook Air, all MacBook Pros, all Intel iMacs except
the cheap ones with Intel integrated graphics, all Mac Pros and some
Xserves.

Supports Blu-Ray burning.

Seems rather limited. Compressor has a simple menu insertion mechanism
(which can be customized somewhat via XML) and can output Blu-Ray
compatible H.264 video for use with third party tools.

DVD Studio Pro is unchanged. No fully featured Blu-Ray creation.
