Show us the ipconfig /all output - probably it's forgotten its default
router, so although you can ping the router it's not using it as the
gateway to t'internet. Is it fixed IP or DHCP?

Thanks jamie - was about to retire - the Ipconfig details I can bear to
type are below - sod's law being that the two USB sticks I have to hand
are not recognised by the damn laptop.

host name - sony
primary DNS suffix (blank)
Node type - broadcast
ip routing - no
wins proxy - no

conn specific dns suffix (blank)
desc - intel pci adapter
phys address - 08-0046-0d-b9-a2
DHCP enabled - yes
Auto config - yes
IP address - 192.168.0.8
subnet 255.255.255.0
default gateway - 192.168.0.1
dhcp server - ditto
dns servers - 62.30.112.39
194.117.134.19
62.30.0.39
lease ob 11 march
lease expires 18 march

There's a second ethernet adapter that's disconnected (sony I-LINk).

Can you repeat this using your Mac? Does it show the same default gateway?
And the same DNS settings? How is the Mac connected to the router: wired or
wireless?

Can the Mac ping all the DNS servers shown?

Can the Mac open the router's mamagement page at the default gateway?
You will need to know the username and password for the router.
Does the router's management page show anything which might limit internet
acces for some LAN clients?

Does the router's management page show a default gateway on the WAN side?
If so make a note of it.

How is the PC connected to the router: wired or wireless?

On the PC, can you open the web page in the router at 192.168.0.1 ??

Is it the same router?

Can the PC ping any of the DNS servers shown, or the WAN side default
gateway?

Is there a firewall in the PC configured to prevent access to the WAN?
