Mail strangeness

I am running Mail 3.5 under 10.5.6 and occasionally I find that one
account or other mysteriously stops working. When I check the online
status of the accounts, I find that at least one shows as offline.
Correcting this gets things working again for maybe a month or two until
it repeats itself. Anyone else experienced this ?
