External DVD writer

I'm half sure that my MacBooks superdrive is possibly faulty, but not
enough to send it back yet. In any case, I can't be doing without it for
any length of time needed to fix it.

It reads all discs fine, and burns CDs fine, but falls over at verifying
DVDs. I burnt one yesterday using 'Burn', and that seemed to work OK,
although I had to eject it and re-insert to read it, but the data
appeared to be OK on the disc.

That makes me wonder of I have an OS issue with burning.

For some time I've thought about an external burner anyway, wanting to
relieve the internal drive of workload. I expect almost any will work,
but any recommendations either for or against?

Cheers.
