I really admire somebody who's blind actually being prepared to use a
computer at all - the things are so inherently visual.

There are circumstances where I think good design improves usability for a
wide range of people with various disabilities - but in this instance surely
what is needed is a product purpose-designed for the blind, which does not
simply copy the view that a sighted person has. Anything less is likely to
be an unfortunate compromise ...
