Hi All,

In readyness to be able to switch between the Mini and PC I've bought
a USB keyboard (and a USB KVM(A) switch).

Would anyone know if I should be able to select which OS I boot into
on the Mini with that or would it require the Apple keyboard?

Cheers, T i m

If you're just booting up the Mac in the first place, hold down the
alt/option key, and you will get a selection of possible boot volumes,
including the Windows boot volume.

Erm, when I was playing with different installs of 10.4 I was doing
this very regularly, I *think* I was holding the Apple key during boot
(but was told I should hold the Alt key). Either way I got to a grey
screen with images of the two drive (internal and external) and away
we went. I think I was getting the same thing with the Apple keyboard
and the Windows / 10.5 option but it doesn't seem to work with this
new USB PC keyboard?

The Alt key should work. If it doesn't, there may be a problem with your KVM.
Try it with the keyboard connected directly to the Mac.

If you have booted the Mac into Windows, there is a Boot Camp control
panel/system tray thingie, which can be selected to set whether to boot
into
OS X or Windows.

Yep, found that ..

If you have booted the Mac into OS X, the best bet is the
(free) menubar thingie Boot Champ, which will restart your Mac into Windows.

I found the 'Startup disk' applet in Prefs?

I've found that that one doesn't work all the time. For example, it doesn't
detect the Boot Camp volume on this machine I'm using now. Boot Champ works
every time on all machines that I've tried it on.

I'll put the Apple keyboard back on now and do some reboots and report
back.

Cheers, T i m
