Or how about a menu on nearly every window?
Oh, wait, that's not OS X :)

;-)

And just how it should be.

I can't think how many times I've gone up to the menu of something
I've got open only to find it doesn't seem to have the options I
expect, then to realise it doesn't even have the name of the App I was
expecting! Then I have to fish about looking for the app (or a tiny
arrow pointing to the app on the dock) to get the thing to show it's
self.

How about clicking in a window for the app? That's what I do in XP (or
used to, at any rate).

Well yes of course, and before anyone takes any of this literally /
seriously that is indeed what I do, but, because I generally work
with one_app_at_a_time and full screen I simply don't get into the
sort of mess I seem to under OSX. Like, under XP full screen is full
screen, not what it thinks is the best use of the screen. I don't want
it deciding what's best for me, it's a tool and I want it doing what
it's told. Full screen, restore, minimise and close, all do what they
say on the tin, all the time with all the apps (well all the ones I'm
interested in anyway). ;-)

All I know is in Windows I know where I'm at and in OSX it's a load
more frustrating clicks and drags to do the same thing. Maybe I'm
doing it the wrong way, maybe if I was to do it the 'Mac way' it would
all work out easier but (as I've explained previously) my screen, eyes
and needs (ie, fun not work) determine to a big degree how I have to
work and XP seems to suit that better than OSX (out of the box
anyway).

Add to that the stupid basic things like everyday apps that won't
start minimised or close rather than stay resident, the lack of
support for my printer and scanner, the lack of useable news reader
and (much though I tried) it just doesn't work for me (yet).

But, that doesn't mean it's dead and at least I'm still using Apple
hardware. ;-)
