I did try installing the Garmin Mapsource under Crossover (I even got

This will be a deal breaker as far as using the Mac as my main desktop
as I have 3 Garmin devices and nether want nor could afford / justify
buying alternative 'Mac Compatible' devices instead. (and I just don't
like the TomTom stuff for various reasons).

So, I could uninstall the Parallels 3 that is currently sitting unused
on daughters Mini and put it on here for Agent and Mapsource (and
probably others), till Garmin come up with a Mac version or use the
Mac as a MP3 player (we already have a Topfield dual DTV tuner PVR).

There are a number of Garmin Mac-compatible utilities on garmin.com.

Yeah, so I was pleased to see a while back and the number is growing.

I
downloaded these recently for use with my Garmin Nuvi 270 but haven't
really played with them yet, apart from downloading some POI data and
updating my firmware etc.

Well they are a couple of the useful bits for sure. ;-).

I'm not sure what functionality it is that you
need form MapSource but maybe it's covered by one or more of their Mac
utilities ?

I don't think they are I'm afraid Paul. What I *need* is to be able to
look up somewhere on Mapsource on the computer (PC/Mac), create a
waypoint then transfer that to whatever GPS I've chosen for the job.
For the Mac that would only be the Quest and 2610 as the little GPS V
is serial only (no probs on this PC and could probably be ok on the
Mac with a suitable USB <> Serial convertor).

I'm not into making my own maps or using another mapping prog like
some people like to do (especially the walkers) creating waypoints on
there then converting / outputting to the GPS etc, I would just like
to use the program as supplied (and paid it upgrade a few times over
the last 10 years) to do the job it intended on my 'computer'.

I'll keep checking on their site though but in the meantime it looks
like it's going to have to be Parallels (especially as I've already
got it). ;-)
