Ok, so I've obviously missed something here, what needs fixing exactly
please?
Proper user account control, only elevated superusers should be able to
modify or add files to any part of the operating system outside of their
user profile.
Users with IE6 should have their ability to browse with ie6 disabled.
IE7 should adopt the firefox approach to managing add ons.
The internet is becoming such a risk, we need create a locked down
environment for browsing, that *cannot* be changed without specific
authorisation, eg, you open up the browser, and you enter a secure
environment which isolates the session from the rest of the OS.
The sources for startup hooks within the registry should be unified, locking
out multiple sources for non OS related files and programmes to start up.
XP pro, with group policy and ntfs permissions contains the means to
genuinly lock the system down, microsoft seem to feel that only those
running servers are interested in security.
