Seems that they weren't quite a straight clone.

There were some minor differences that I can't remember now -
essentially a lot of software would work on either machine, but some
software wouldn't.

The ITT 2020 had a few more lines in HGR mode. I think it was just the
screen display that was different.

I knew all about the Commodore machines. Never
really liked 'em much aside from the PETs, which I still consider hugely
cute. Oh, and the Amiga, but that wasn't really a Commodore computer,
was it?

It was developed externally initially, yes.

`We designed it, they fucked it up' was how the creators put it, AIUI.

That was, apparently, an Easter egg built into the OS or firmware or
similar. I never saw it.
