Definitely works on the Air, I sometimes end up running so low on

Hang on, I'll have a go with a MacBook - yep, works there too. Oh, an
interesting detail:

If you have mains power connected to the sleeping laptop, you can just
plug it in with the laptop closed; the laptop will wake then go to
sleep again a few seconds later, but the phone will carry on charging.

Without power, you have to wake the lappie, plug in the iPhone, close
and sleep. Charging will continue.

Just tried the iBook again, it actually stops charging as soon as the
iBook goes to sleep. Power adapter or not. I wonder if the USB ports
work differently?

That has been my experience. I haven't yet tried to charge my iPod Touch
(still have it) or my iPhone or old v1 Nano in this way.. will try in a
second....

... and it seems to work on a new al- iMac.

Can no longer try on a PPC based Mac as my PM G4 died today (hoping it
is the battery rather than the power supply...)
