We are currently using Norton Utilities 7 and Norton System Works 2
on our OS 9.2 machines, but both disks are now broken.

Is there anywhere I could buy/download these pieces of software?

I don't know, but:

1) You really should have made backups, and

Shouldn't we all:-)

Well, yes - and you'll regret it one day if you don't.

<Grin> - hence the smiley.

The number of times I've heard from people with dead HDDs who said `Can
you get my files back?' ... and when they explain they've not made any
backups because nothing ever went wrong so they didn't need them, I've
often just given them a pitying look and left them to it.

Yup - its seems to be so hard to get the message across doesn't it.
Especially as HDs are so cheap these days.

2) There's probably something better you could use.

I don't recall finding any faults that Disk First Aid couldn't fix
that Norton Disk Doctor could fix.

DiskWarrior beats both NDD and DFA hands down.

Interesting - and available from Amazon at £55 which is not bad.

although the Alsoft website states (Aug 2008)... The current DiskWarrior
CD cannot start up the new Mac Pro and Xserve models introduced on
01/08/2008, the MacBook Air introduced on 01/15/2008, the
MacBook/MacBook Pro models introduced on 02/26/2008, or the iMac models
introduced on 04/28/2008. An updated disc that will also start up these
recent Mac models will be released as soon as Apple, Inc. releases new
startup files to Alsoft, Inc. and other developers.

Ah yes - well, DiskWarrior comes on an optical disc that needs to be able
to boot yer Mac.

Alsoft has DiskWarrior working for those Macs and I'm sure that
internally, Alsoft has modern Intel Macs happily booting off DiskWarrior
discs - but if they want to sell it, they need to have Apple's permission
to distribute the required files, which Apple's not letting them have.

I'm sure it will happen in due course, but I thought it was worth pointing
out as I had been thinking of getting a copy in any case, but I'll await
version 4.2!
