Mail.app always pops up the password notice if *anything* with the

That's the truth and all!
One of my accounts is connected to a flaky ISP server. It goes into a
sulk quite frequently. Mail spits out the password pane. I just ignore
it. Time is a great healer.
And Bella, Google's IMAP does not work at all well with mail.app
It insists on creating boatloads of folders of its own choosing and
then hurling duplicates into most of them. Its junk mail fights tooth
and claw with the Mac one, which is a royal pain in the pull through
space if you have other than Google accounts as well.
Yes, that's what I found. However, I've now decided to keep
..Mac/MobileMe for another year, so I'm forwarding to my mail accounts
there now instead - IMAP works fine there.
I retreated to POP for my Google account, and then set it up to
autodelete everything on the Google server as soon as it is delivered
(or as soon as possible, since Google probably wants to sell my darkest
secrets to anything with money to hand them)
Good point, I have nothing that needs keeping that badly, I must go and
sort that out.
Then I use SpamSieve back at my Mac for all my accounts, including the
one that lives on my own server which already does a
Postfix/Spamassassin job on all the junk that tips up there.
I just use the Mail one, in conjunction with the Gmail spam filter, it
does the job most of the time.
