Still don't like it ..

I know. To me it is windows, XP or vista, they both have advantages or
disadvantages to each other. This PC here (I am working this weekend -
customers coming on monday) has vista on, and the one next to it has XP. I
have to test it with both.

Ok ..

Well, yes, I tried the computer in PCWorld, but I don't think the guy would
have been happy with me installing OSX on it.

:-)

Mind you I had to wait quite a while while he was checking stock and the Mac
aisle wasn't far away, maybe I would have had time!

;-)

Funny - I used to have an old logitech webcam years ago when they were black
and white and a bit rubbish,

Hey, don't diss history dood. ;-)

and I used it a bit there. Now I have quality
colour webcams, not even interested!

Well I was wondering about that when I was typing but I wasn't sure if
it was on not, being you have to scroll the screen about etc?

Scroll the screen? Mine doesn't scroll, or is this some windows thing? But
no, it is 800x480, which is widescreen

Oh yeah, it was when I had XP on it you get a full 800x600 and the
screen automatically scrolls to show you the missing bits. It was much
better than the letter box we have with Linux.

To be
fair I don't use it much (Linux still frustrates me by it's lack of
functionality), Jenny tends to use it for IM if she can't be bothered
to get the Tosh A60 out. It's handy to be able to grab just_in_case
etc.

I dont have a problem with its functionality - it does everything I want it
to do.

I think I'd do more with it if it was XP and had mode disk space.

I get frustrated by the awful keyboard and the fact it tries to tip
over backwards.

I forgot about the balance thing.

That is what I wanted for a next netbook/lcpc whatever they are called
* Good keyboard
* Better screen
* Better battery

k

Shame Apple doesn't make a tiny laptop as you would probably get those
features (at a price)?

The advent has two of those, the third I can work on when they come out with
the better batteries (they are supposed to have had 4800 mAH batteries -
they come with 2200mAH). When I can get the better battery, that will give
me the third thing (about 5 hours then, which isn't perfect but seems
useable)

Ok ..

The operating system thing isn't a major issue either way. I would have got
the Linux one if they had done one, but there wasn't an option.

I would always go for the Windows option as you can Linux for nowt in
any case?

Windows
isn't much use to me on a netbook as I wont be writing software on it, but
it certainly isn't something that would stop me from getting it.

K

OSX would
be perfect if everything works with it, failing that there are many little
linuxes which will give me a much faster startup.

And the only reason I put it back on the eeePC.

Correct (other than I would never use the word everyone) for those
that use MSN video chat it is.

All the people I knew who used MSN video (admitadly not many) use skype now.

I have Skype and with quite a few contacts on it but only mainly use
it with one mate who has a 'thing' about MSN.

You would have thought that after over 100 years working with
rechargeable battery technology and more recent component
miniaturization and energy saving we would have sorted that by now.
:-(

Same should be said of comptuer technology

True.

Most of the batteries used by japanese OEMs (ie, most people) come from one
huge factory, which had a fire.
That is what caused ASUSs problems, and why other machines were delayed.

Ah.

All the best ..
