I'd like to have the possibility of 'undeleting' files which I have

Make a pre-trash folder on the desktop,
move it there, trash later when convenient,
That's embarrassingly simple - ingenious! Thanks
Of course if the "pre-trash" folder is on your desktop, then dragging
files to it from a network server will require copying it over the
network.

A similar option would be to create a pre-trash folder somewhere
convenient on the server, and perhaps have an alias to it which you can
easily access. That way, you move the files on the server rather than
having to copy them over the network.

That was of course the idea all along.
The obvious place for it is on the desktop of the server,
right next to the real trash,

Dear Clevercloggs,

I've created a 'Mini Trash' folder on the 'server' and put it in the Dock.

I've tried creating an alias to the Trash in Mini/~ but the alias to ..Trash isn't visible.

macbook:~ nick$ ls -l MiniTrash
lrwxr-xr-x 1 nick staff 6 23 Jun 18:58 MiniTrash -> .Trash

There must be something magical about an alias to .Trash.
