I've been annoyed by a little problem I've had with Mail.app for some
time now. If I wanted to hilight a block of text that was longer than
the screen, the normal drag-select wouldn't cause the page to scroll up.
I've just found out how to get around it. I have my Dock on the left
(fits in better with sidescreen format), so all my windows fill the
screen vertically. As soon as I resized the Mail window so there was a
space below it, the scrolling works again.
As far as I can see, this only affects Mail, as I've not noticed it with
any other app.
Just checked here and the drag-select works with the Mail window
stetched all the way to the bottom of the screen.
How strange, I can reproduce this ever time, and it happened on my G5,
and on the newer MB. Both with OS 10.5.x (it's been happening before
10.5.3).
Guess what? Just tried changing the size of the window to leave a gap
and found scrolling worked OK. resized to bottom of screen and
drag-select didn't work!
Guess when I first tried it the window wasn't stretched fully to the
bottom but must have had a *small* gap.
