It is a toshiba 320GB. This one (in fact from here)

Also - any thoughts on power consumption difference and the best way to
transfer from the existing drive to the new one (via Time Machine??)
Too early to say what the power requirements are.
I backed the old drive up with superduper. Swapped the drive around
(there was a week delay while my motherboard got replaced!) which took
about 20 minutes, as I did it carefully.
I went to restore it with superduper and it wanted me to pay. So I
backed up from the backup to the empty new drive. That worked ok.
Speed seems to be around the same, although I haven't tried much on it
yet (took a while to restore it).
The big difference is that I was constantly fighting with 10GB free or
so. Now I have 196.58GB available!
My 160G MBP is down to less thant 20G free space - and I really need to
double the HDD size......
Mine was a 120GB, so it was worse. Especially as I have logic on here.
I'm down to around 12gb free on my MBP - those drives are pretty
cheap, I'm very tempted. How nasty a job is swapping the drive? I've
a 17" one. Had a quick look on Macfixit and it looks a bit involved
but would appreciate feedback from someone who's actually done it!
Actually not so bad if you are organised, and not scared of electronics.
Remember, make a piece of paper or something where you can put the
screws and keep them together. Each batch of screws is the same, but the
batches are different
I wish I had seen this before hand as you can see the struggle areas
there.

It can be sumarised as --
Easy bits:
Back up the disk to another disk.
Remove the batteries
Remove the bracket and the three screws around the battery.
Remove the two torxs and the screws on the bottom
Remove the 4 screws on the socket side
Remove the 4 screws on the other side
Remove the 2 screws on the back
Nothing to trouble anyone there. have the right tools, makes it
trivially easy.
Then you have to remove the top. It is easy but a bit nervy.
Disconnect the keyboard
Remove the tape from the hard disk plug end. This doesn't want to come
up easily.
Remove the cable going over the board. This is stuck down and hard to
move. There is also tape over it which is hard to get a grip with. As
you can see on the video, he takes a while on this.
Also before moving the disk, make a note of where the cable to the
things on top of the hard disk go. There is a little lug which it goes
round, and if you don't look, when it goes back it is not obvious which
way it goes.
When all that is off,
Undo the screws on the right of the disk
Pull the holder up.
Tilt the disk up and remove.
Swap the little lugs on the side of the disk to the new disk
Put the cable on the new disk.
Put the disk in and bolt the clamp thing down.
plug the cable back in, and all the tape back on.
Ensure everything is flat
With the top, put it in front edge first, making sure it lines up width
wise.
Plug the keyboard connector in.
Tilt it lid down, and really press the keyboard front edge in.
Put the keyboard flat.
Make sure the keyboard is all pressed in all the way around. The back
and sides aren't important as there are screws there, the front is.
Put all the screws in in the reverse order you took them out
Put the battery in
Turn it on.
Wait for what seems like ages while it is starting
Put your backup in so it can boot from it.
Erase the disk
Backup your backup onto the disk
All in all, it isn't hard as long as you are methodical and tidy. I am
neither, but I was an electronic engineer for most of my life, so I can
get away with it!
