Aye, that was me. Myself and a friend (in eletronics) took it apart, and
found half a dozen 'dry' joints in each of them, as well as the pins
that connected the SATA adapter plate not being soldered in the right
place, so they didn't connect fully.
Oi vey. How does anyone manage that sort of thing these days, though?
I do wonder myself. Obviously the whips aren't long enough in China
these days!
And there was me thinking they did all possible soldering in a bath.
But they seemed cheap and nasty to me in any case.
They had a lovely casing though! :-)
Neat, yes - I did rather like the way the cases were done from an
engineering point of view. Quite elegant when assembled, and - oh yes,
nice, okay.
Just goes to show doesn't it, don't judge a book, and all that.
Well, I don't judge things on appearance much in that line - except that
if it's very stylish, I've learnt to be very suspicious.
But that tiny wee fan in the corner - I mean, what?
Don't remember that, but it does seem a bit unecessary, seeing as you'd
screwed the drive to what was essentially a very large heat sink.
That point had struck me.
Rowland.
