computer and is connected to the net via a Virgin Media cable modem
I am considering 'going wireless' and have a few questions...
If I get a router [from Virgin Media] does it have to be 'wired' to a
computer? Ideally I would like the internet connection to come into
the house in it's current position [upstairs bedroom] but have the
[only] computer in a room downstairs.
To be able to print 'wirelessly' do I have to get a specific printer
or can I get some sort of adapter?
One of these (http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxNEXTWirelessRoutersandGateways/WNR854T.aspx) would solve all those problems - as would any of the similar products on offer from lots of other manufacturers. Plug the VM cable modem in and away you go.
Wonder if it is any better than the abysmal DG834N that I have had replaced today. Lasted a whole 2 months before it crapped out.
Although a bit of an artform to know if it has crapped out or if it is just working slightly worse than normal.
Had it replaced for another one as it is easier that way, but my choice would have been to get the money back and get something reliable.
