Ok. I am just wary of having *something* that will work with it from
the off etc.

Well, yes, but it is basically a midi keyboard, so pretty well
everything will work with it from the off.

Ah, sorry, by 'something' I meant 'some software' and although I know
OSX comes with GB not all PC's have similar. If she is at home she has
the Mac, everywhere else (she goes outside of College) she won't so
having an bundled app that provides *something* could be handy.

I am sure there is something that is free and useable for the PC. I have
never looked but there must be.

Yeah, I've often looked at basic soft drum kits and Jenny was given a
Yamaha unit a while back but it was very basic and not very
responsive.

Probably well worth having then if she doesn't have anything like that.

Ok, so that's another plus for the AXIOM 25 (I can see this will end
in tears).

Could well be. Although it is nice.

In fact after looking I was fairly tempted to get one, although at the
moment I need something I can use in a pub, so a synth with its own
sound would be better as there is less setup/breakdown time.

Don't people mind when you busk in pubs? ;-) Seriously, that's partly
why I chose the Prokeys 88sx as it has some basic voices built in and
an audio output.

Yes. It is a piano (mostly) thing isn't it? I was going to get something
a bit synthy to do a variety of cover songs. Gets me out of the house.

Yep, "but this ones got 3 bells and 6 whistles and only 5 pounds more
... ah but, this one ..." :-(

That is how I always end up.

It's not always for me as funds often don't allow such. Also,
sometimes even the basic offering is really to much like with tools ..
when I really should pay someone to do something I buy said, do the
job myself and factor the tool cost in the money saved. ;-)

I do it the other way around. I get paid by the hour, so I get someone
to do the job and just do my job for the time to pay for it!

Thats a good thing to do.

We think so .. and it's an outlet for her creativity.

And more productive than my recent nights
which have all getting various computers to do what they are supposed
to.

Hmm, I've been given a Vista laptop to 'look at' tonight .. (great).

Well, whatever you do, don't decide to delete some rescue partition from
the start of the disk, then convert the disk to a dynamic disk so you
can stripe it.

That ends in tears. Well, I reinstall anyway.

I don't even know really why I am bothering, as I suspect my most used
work tool won't work in vista anyway. I couldn't get it working last
time.

Yeah, I looked into that the last time it was mentioned here but
something put me off ... internal file formats possibly ...?

mp3 internally.

But something weird when pulling them off or summat .. or am I
thinking of a similar product?

No, they are mp3s. You can get at the low level sections, but they are
mp3 too.
