Not on Andy's G5, no. But it doesn't on any other installation I'm aware
of.

Perhaps's Andy's G5 is special, or cursed, or something.

It'd be worth monitoring the files inside the Aperture library to see
when they are being changed (their mtimes).

Well, I'm currently doing fault finding with Aperture Library anyway,
even a tech guy from Apple has intervened in the Apple Discussion I was
having. It seems I do have a serious problem with my albums, which are
causing a rebuild of the Library to bring up multiple 'inconsistency'
errors. I removed most of the albums, and I got it down to a single
error, albeit with some strange behaviour still, but it looks like at
least all the images are intact.

So, it does look like it could be a bit of a curse here somewhere.
