FrontRow is painfully slow accessing the content, whereas VLC fairly
whizzes through the lists.
The movies eventually play ok, but you could fall asleep waiting for
them to appear.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but the general rule is 'use
the one that works best for you'. In your case that sounds like VLC...

Re: OT Tivo, DVD, blu ray? What do I need? ... If you really get addicted to the whole idea of recording and sharing movies you'll find that Tivo has some locks on some features that are useful. ... But if all you want to do is record some movies from OTA and play them once in a while in your living room, ... But remember that it is a PC so it is capable of way more than just playing HD DVDs....
