Astounding. Here I am at the salubrious location of the Hilton,

give wireless away these days. But not in this here Hilton, oh no siree.
Instead they want you to plug into this wired iBahn system they have.
OK, if you insist...., connect cable, navigate to ibahn and...hold on,
you still want me to pay -extra- for this? And how much, £15 a day?!
These are business hotels - I doubt there's many staying in Docklands
for the sheer touristiness of the place. It's absolutely ridiculous
that there's no wireless yet, and sillier still that they want you to
pay for even just wired network access. Anyway, without my trusty and
somewhat battered 3G N70 I'd now be screwed. As it is, continued
connection to the net shall be mine, and without donating an organ or
two to Hilton Hotels.
That's the thing. It's a business hotel.
Many businesses disable wifi on their laptops and the £15/day charge can
be put on your expenses, so there's no incentive for them to go to a
free or wifi service.
Annoys me that hotels still charge extra for 'net access - when I'm
looking for a hotel, I try and find one with a Wifi alliance hotspot, so
I can use my Openzone minutes on it.
