that is rather a lot of faith.Well possibly and why I said 'assuming'.If there were no further changes to the OS and assuming they had fixed
all the holes then there wouldn't need to be any updates to maintain
the status quo?
the charces of holes being all fixed is not one to put much faith in,
infact any faith in.
Oh indeed, I not something I have.
um thats not really
up to a point yes, newer types of malware get's invited in by tricking
in once sence it doesn't matter becuase, one behind a router as yourit shares code base with the newer ones, and last i looked expliots
fairly often link along the whole familily thus any idea that it's all
patched is not a realistic one.
But none of that bothers me Roger because I believe I take sufficient
precautions to protect myself and others. Just like someone who fits
an alarm to their car or house even though they have doors and windows
with locks.
mostly like are things that in the past spread like wildfile now just
get stopped dead.
True , but further, with a local network you may still need to protect
yourself from the others with a software firewall etc.
the user, once it has a host, the hosts firewall is of no value, it can
either just open it up or do any thing it likes. the other pc's on the
network are of less intrest than the all the other connected computors
the other side of router.
modern malware has adapted to the firewall.
it depends greatly a lot have no intrest at all. thus they accempt thatsure and i have a pc that likewise is't a problem but niether you or I
are normal users. normal users at least the onces i see have all sorts
of lovelys in them....
Ah, now you are talking about user education Roger. If you, I, my
family, friends and many other can run XP machines day in and day out
with little or no problems shows that then it obviously can be done ..
and one you have explained to most of them what you should and
shouldn't do, most seem ok. Ok, I grant you you shouldn't have to do
said but nor should the local Crime Prevention Officer be able to tell
us anything about securing our cars or property but they generally
can, no matter how secure you though you were already ..?
there computors get clogged up now and then. but the point is simular
users on pritty much any other system you can shake a stick at, while
they do all sorts of odd things to the computor and get it into a mess
they don't get it sitting there as a nice little spam bot.
All the best ..
