Claris Works 4 never gave me any trouble at all. Not the slighest. Ah!
And yes, I still use it for maintaining a simple database - still never
any trouble[1]. And I have gremlins, and I uncover bugs in all sorts of
software that others claim do not exist. If CW 4 has proven stable here
but not where you are - well, you must have been doing something really
horrible to it, that's all I can say.

na but differnt situations? i have to say i did very little to it, open
the odd file write the odd letter etc. but it really was never a happy
chuck v5 was worse than v4. but both could be a royal pain.

Never had v5; v4 was trouble-free for me. And it didn't get in the way
and mess things up like recent versions of MS Word (`recent' meaning
anything beyond about v5 for the Mac, IIRC).

never used any form of word for much until word X on mac, in what way
mess up, not that the idea of messing up by word doesn't supprise me. i
am no fan of such of word really but it's the best of bad lot. at least
for me.

And unlike MS Word, CW 4 has a nice UI and does something closer to what
you need. It's less of a pain all round, is CW 4.

heh i think i'll agree to disagree!

Have you actually tried to use both of them for jobs where the manual
was needed? I have - and when it comes to almost everything, CW 4 wins
hands down over MS Word.

i don't think i've ever needed the manual in either to be honest. i do
CV's job applications maybe a letter etc the odd report in the past none
have required.
And CW 4 never crashed on me that I can recall. If you had crashing -
well, I dunno what to think. It just never did it to me. I'd guess you
had dodgy extensions or control panels added to the OS to create
instability - but that's only my first guess to explain the
inconsistency.

in classic days i tended to keep the system clean of extentions and it
certinaly didn't get any better if i reinstalled or disabled extentions.
but i am quite hard on computers if they can crash i'll manage it
normally.
