I don't actually _need_ to replace my current PDA (a much loved Sony

I nearly - oh, so nearly - bought a Palm TX today, but the only thing it
offered that my Sony doesn't is WPA on wireless. Trouble is, my network
is WPA protected, so I can't use the wireless on my Sony...which means
no web, no email - it basically gets used for ebooks, nothing more.
So what does the suave, PDA-hunting Mac owner get nowadays?
I'm not suave, am a Mac owner and did (fairly recently) buy a T|X,
primarily as a contacts manager with the ability to 'test' WiFi
connections as the second.
All the local PCW branches didn't show stock from the WEB and I
*nearly* went to Lakeside shopping centre (never been there since it
opened a good few years ago) as they showed a few. Then when in my
local store the un typically friendly and pro-active (for PCW) 'Tech
guy' suggested they did in fact have 3 in stock (2 new, one on
display), went and got me one and honored the 'Collect @ Store' price
without a fuss, saving me 20 quid (179.98). I'm not sure how good a
price that was (I think it was ok) but I think it's nice with that
sort of thing to be able to walk it back into the store if need be
rather than having to post it back to somewhere 'up Norf' where they
would probably just eat it?
Good battery life, wireless (with support for WPA as you mention) and
being reasonably familiar to me as I've owned (own) many Palm products
over the years (Organizer > Series 5) all helped sway me towards one.
It all seems to work ok, 'unexpected quits' from mail sometimes which
is a bit frustrating (now I see what sort of things you Mac folk have
to put up with .. XP doesn't do that for me ..<g>)[1] but as a
re-start is quick it's not a deal breaker.
Graffiti data entry isn't 'fast' for me (last time I wrote anything by
hand was at school) and I could use some slightly stronger reading
glasses for some of the more fiddly functions within some apps but on
the whole is pretty useable.
I use talking books / music a bit (it's got a proper 3.5mm stereo
jack), the eReader a bit and play some games (when waiting to pickup
the daughter etc).
I've bought a couple of 2G cards (£9 each), along with a Krusell case
(after throwing it across the concrete 'naked' on day 2 .. what does
that always have to happen?). ;-(
Hotsynch seems to work pretty well and by many different means (direct
USB cable, WiFi, BT). Charges from a mains charger (supplied), USB
cable (supplied) and I'm gonna get a car charger (eBay probably?).
As usual with me (us?) I played with the thing quite a bit for the
first week, now it's just used when *needed*.
There are a couple of functions I've yet to explore, like I believe it
has the ability to dial out from the contacts manager app using BT ..?
All the best ..

them.
