Hi All,
So the PB G4 17" (alloy with iffy hard drive) has ended up here and
is currently joined by a new 6p Firewire cable to our Intel Mini.
I start the PB in 'Target Disk Mode' (holding the T key whilst
booting) and see a large FW symbol on the PB screen.
I see no action on the Mini? Restart Mini, remove re-connect FWE
cable, nothing. I know the FW port on the Mini is working as it did
the 'you have unplugged something' message as I removed the external
250G drive.
(When I boot the PB from the OSX CD the installer can't see any
partitions but the Disk Utility can but can't repair it).
What have I missed please?
The disk is too damaged to mount. You could try running Disk Utility
on the Mini. If DU can see the disk it might be able to mount it.
Like i have just said to Jaimie it sounds like it's *trying* to see
it.
(If
the disk appears in the left hand panel, select it and press the Mount
button at the top.
That would be a nice sight Phil! ;-)
Worth a try, at any rate.
Oh indeed, and I would be quite chuffed to be able to get something
back working for him (I don't mind doing this sort of stuff). ;-)
All the best ..
