Not at all, and there's no need to be offensive.

However you do things, you've got to save the files from the newsreader
somehow, so that step is always there.

Unison is able to show the list of files present in the newsgroup
(spread over hundreds of messages, perhaps), and draws a little red dot
next to its icon if there's a part missing. Just select the file and
click Download. No dragging and dropping. No selecting hundreds of
messages; Unison's done all that tedious work for you.

Umm.

Rowland finds what he has works very nicely. He's got the most
appropriate tool for the job *HE* is doing. He's also been around long
enough to mistrust high levels of automation in software - you just
can't trust it.

MacSoup has been an unsuitable tool
for getting files from binary groups
for as long as it has existed.
(in the sense that there have always been
much better tools for this job)
