Re: It's good to Talk-Talk???

A friend (one of my 'users') is using an early CRT iMac, running 8.5. It
does everything she wants it to do, and she doesn't want to upgrade or
spend any more money. When she went to broadband, I set her up with a
Zyxel single port router, and UKOnline. It was all cheap, and worked
really well. Suited her down to the ground.

Last week I get a call; help, it doesn't work. I was sure it wasn't the
Mac or the router, and UKOnline helpdroids told her they thought it was
a BT problem. I talked to her again last night... Some weeks ago she had
a visit from some friends who were singing the praises of Talk-Talk,
cheaper, all-in service etc etc. She rang them up, said they'd send her
some bumf and an installation CDROM. She went on holiday to France.
While she was away, apparently before sending her any literature or
explaining what they were doing in any way *she* could understand, they
switched her. Of course on her return nothing worked. And when it turned
up, the CDROM apparently requires a higher version of the classic MacOS.
I'm sure that setting up doesn't need the CDROM, but she is now totally
pissed off with them and having to unwind the whole bloody mess. I've
recommended she stay with UKOnline, as it's worked well for her for more
than a year.

I've had other friends who've had dreadful experiences with Talk-Talk.
Obviously this doesn't constitute a valid statistical sample. Anybody
here having a happy, smiley time with them?

i set up one of my mums friends with talk talk ie a cheap router, it
works and it worked 2nd time, 1st time she didn't tell me she had other
phones sockets. but to the best of my knowledge it's still working away.
