I just picked up a powerbook 400Mhz laptop at a thrift store for 10
bucks. No Battery, No CD and no pwer supply. I want to see if it would
run before buy the missing bits. Anyway I got a jury rigged P/S and it
starts up but is password protected. Is there anyway to get past this?

You need to boot it from CD/DVD. If it is an OS X CD/DVD, there's an option to reset the admin password.

Alternatively if you boot in Firewire target disk mode, can you connect it to another Mac?

As you'll almost certainly want to do a wipe and reinstall of OS X, you'll probably want to use the reset admin password approach.

Cheers,
