Sounds like my buggy D-Link. The firmware on these devices is often
from the same third party, so you may have the same problems as me.
There's a couple of nasty bugs sue to lack of onboard memory. If
using certain connection intensive applications it can run out of
concurrent sessions due to lack of memory, causing the thing to grind
to a halt. Also the DNS relay daemon process often crashes, again due
to a lack of memory. The latter can be resolved by disabling the DNS
relay, and configuring DHCP to give out the actual IP address(es) of
your ISP's DNS server. The former can supposedly be resolved by
telnetting into the box and changing some of the kernel parameters on
the fly, as follows, but it doesn't work for me.
