I managed to get the Mikomi webcam apart then......

For those that were interested in the Argos Mikomi webcams, and wanted
to fit them to a telescope. Well, I have managed to get mine apart, and
it was really easy.

To remove the base, undo the 6 screws around the legs - two are hidden
under the S/N sticker at each end. You can then detach the base, leaving
the peg sticking out of the camera body.

Next, undo the two screws each side of the curved bit with the peg in
it. You may need to give this a little wiggle, but the entire panel
lifts off with the peg.

At this point, you could easily unclip the peg, and work on installing a
screw thread adapter to mount on a tripod.

I also parted the main casing, and the electronic guts, and then
unscrewed the lens off the front of the CCD. This removed one piece of
optics from the light path, as well as improving the field of view to
the CCD.

I then reassembled it, but you do need to rescrew the base plate on
again to secure the casing back together.

I did some daylight testing on my 105mm Mak telescope, and had no
problems focussing on a house across the way - a single brick wouldn't
fit in the viewer. However, I could also fit it to a T-mount adapter
tube, insert various eyepieces, and still control the magnification
there too.

I'm still working on a mounting for it at the moment. Not sure whether
to make a tube of some kind, so it can be directly mounted to the
focusser, or use a tripod mount.

I haven't managed to do any actual imagery yet, as the skies have been,
well, crap really.
