Just need to convert a (1G) .aiff into something more useful .. like
an mp3(?) or an audio CD <shrug, arse, willy, chuckle> ;-)
iTunes will do that. Stick it in the library and then select 'convert to
mp3' (unless you have it set to aacs, then it will say 'convert to aac')
It will let you burn it on a cd converted or not.
Oh, cheers, all from iTunes you mean?
I did right click on the file in the hope it might do something clever
.. like a 'burn to audio CD' or summat but alas not as currently
configured.
Just one little quirk in iTunes, you have to select export and burn
options in Preferences each time you want to change it.
I've just been chucked off the iMini (brought Daughter home from
b/f's) before I could even find the burn option. ;-(
I imported the newly recorded .aiff track and then told it to convert
to mp3. Now I seem to have two tracks the same? I really haven't got
the hang of iTunes yet .. soo frustrating ..
So make sure you
go into Preferences to change both the audio type you want to end up
with (i.e. MP3, AAC or AIFF), and also the type of disc you want to burn
(i.e. Data CD, MP3 Disc, or Audio CD). I have made a few coasters by
forgetting these options before hitting the 'Burn' button.
Ok, ta. I'll check those when I get back on.
Is .aiff compressed do you know .. like will I be able to burn it onto
a std 80 min CD without doing anything else?
AIFF is not compressed, it's the audio equivalent of a TIFF photo file
(MP3 is equivalent to a JPG). If you choose the 'Audio CD' option in the
Burn Preference pane, you will end up with a standard Audio CD (which I
believe is a form of AIFF file), regardless of the source format.
Well that will be ok, as long as it's in a universal format (audio CD)
I don't care! ;-)
All the best ..
