And, as Zoara has already pointed out, that's why you _really_ ***
people off.

Then don't keep taking to me then David (and I can't help it if you
wind yourself up)? At least Zoara is doing what is best for him and
(mostly) keeping away and that's fine for both of us.

Ok. Like with the pdf thing, let's just recap the facts (at least as I
see them and that's all I can do isn't it).

I have been aware of and opening / printing pdf's since year dot.

I know it stands for 'portable document format' and why it's a good
idea in many circumstances (what if someone want's to open-re edit the
..pdf etc)?

I have probably produced a .pdf document in my time but have forgotten
how / what / why I did so (been in IT nearly 30 years).

I have installed Word / Office hundreds of times (IT support / IT (but
not apps) Trainer)

I have never installed the full Acrobat package nor been involved in
sorting said out for anyone, ever (again, that I remember).

I have never been involved in the graphics / design / WP industry.

I download manuals / tech documents in many formats and rarely have
any trouble opening / reading / printing any of them.

I generally install Acrobat Reader on all machines I get involved in.

End of facts. See, nothing contentious there, just the facts as I see
them.

Personal stuff.

I get a bit pissed off (in a very very mild sense) when folk fwd me
emails / jokes with / without attachments with all the mail headers
from the hundreds of other folk along the chain. Or not removing the
forwarding marks, or attaching a .bmp when a .jpg would have done etc
etc. Or top posting etc etc.

If I think the sender is non technical 'that way' and I feel would be
interested in doing things 'better' I will sometimes re-format / trim
the email and return it to them so they can see what it could look
like and gently / kindly offer them suggestions re why that would be a
good thing for them to do and how they might do it. This would
generally only be friends / family etc.

If they ask further questions I try to answer them in a friendly easy
way because if they manage to do this in future it's better for me.

However I don't get all excited over it because if I can't be bothered
to plough though all the dross I don't. Simple.

Remember who jumped in with the abuse first David.

Or is this a term of endearment?
