p.s. I was party to a couple of conversations recently.
1) "I've got a Mac laptop and I've created a new user and now I can't
get back in on the other user and I need to get my photos off. I have
been told you can get a 'recovery' CD?"
Me: I think you can boot from the OS CD to reset passwords, I think
you have to hold a key down while you are doing it .. maybe the C key
or summat .. ?
Him: I don't have an OS CD ..
Me: Well you should have one, you need to have a look on eBay or find
an Apple place ..
Him: How much is that then ..
Me: About 80 quid new I think
Him: Forget that ...
It isn't Apple's fault this bloke is an idiot who has both forgotten a
password and lost his OS discs.
It's no different to a Windows user who's lost their Windows installation
disks surely?
Well indeed, in the case of the actual predicament, however I suggest
it would probably be easier to get that fixed had it been a Windows
based box (eg, I have soft tools for Windows machines but not Mac's
yet have 'looked after' quite a few Mac's in my time (and why I would
be reluctant to suggest a Mac to anyone who might rely on me for
support)).
All the best ..
