Thanks - I found that one yesterday whilst hunting. We don't get a red
X, we get a black X. The difference apparently is that the red X means
the battery cannot currently accept charge, whereas the black X means
it simply hasn't found a battery.

Tried the other things - not a sausage. Phone call time I think.

I had exactly the same with my MacBook after I left it at the office
asleep over christmas, came back to a dead battery. Got it sorted pretty
quickly though.
