Re: Accessing Samba shares on powerbook from windows

Hi,

I've been setting up samba sharing of my home directory and that of my girlfriend from my powerbook G4 (tiger 10.4.7). Its working okay, except for a slight niggle.

Each of us has a separate account on the powerbook, with different home directories and passwords etc. From a windows laptop (running XP Pro) I connect as follows: \\powerbook\ijday or \\powerbook\girlfriend and I get prompted for a username and password.

The trouble is, if I log on to my share as me, I can get also access my girlfriend's share, and vice versa. I thought that a username would only get you access to that share?

Okay, so a little googling later, I've found that adding

valid users = %S

to the [homes] section has fixed things up. I was using SharePoints, but it didn't give me this option.
