Maybe that explains my moment of apparent stupidity yesterday?

I checked the battery against the list on Sunday, and realised I was
eligible, but the website wouldn't accept my serial. Stuck it on my task
list, got around to it yesterday.

Called them up, explained that the website said I was eligible but wouldn't
verify my serial number. Idly flicked through to the web page as I was
talking to them (and they were checking the details) and spotted that the
iBook serials were only eligible with a specific set of suffixes, which
mine wasn't in.

So - was the suffix set always there for iBooks, or was I genuinely caught
out by a change between when I checked and when I called up?

Not stupid, it has changed...

Your experience is very similar to mine.

First Powerbook (before extra qualification was added) required phone
call on Friday morning as battery was rejected on the web page with
message "This serial number is invalid or does not qualify for the
program". This is now booked in for replacement.

Second PowerBook also failed, but phoning had taken so long I decided to
leave it to Wednesday this week.

List has now been further qualified so both batteries are OK (albeit the
first is scheduled to be replaced).

Still, with the Dell recall, if you mistype your battery serial number
it comes back and says it is OK...

Oops,

Dave
