Re: Now I see the point of .Mac

Hmm, a 60 day trial of .Mac might do. I had only intended to use this
just to get the data across, but I can see this being useful enough for
a full subscription (I haven't yet).

I was a .Mac subscriber for a year then let me membership lapse. I've recently rejoined again..

The reason? Although it costs money - it does make a lot of things simple. The 'syncing' is very good i.e. sharing keychain, safari bookmarks, mail account etc between macs - you don't need to think about it - it just does it.

I like the iDisk - not super fast but nice for the odd small files.

The Backup tool is good too. I backup the basics to iDisk (like bookmarks etc) but also use it to backup my user area to USB drive. Again, just works and does incremental backups. Perhaps not the best tool but ok.

The website stuff is simple, I can set up a photo library quickly and password protect the page etc.

There are a few other bits that it does too which are not amazing in their own right but work.

All these things can be done with other methods, but the reason I rejoined was that .Mac does all this easily. Each to their own I guess.
