Hi,
I would like to install a 'superdrive' into a G3 iMac.
(600 MHZ/1Gig RAM).
Does anybody know if this is possible, and if so,
where can I find some directions on how to do it!
Thanks in advance!

MacPro!!!! Blimey!!!!
It is (theoretically [1]) possible, don't go wanting to encode DVDs
though, 'should' be ok as a big backup drive, maybe.
Lay towel on desk, flip monitor screen down onto towel, remove the VGA
cover, remove the two outer screws under the cover, remove the two
screws between the feet, the bottom case is clipped at the front nr the
cd drive, so carefully unclip the front (it often just pulls off
easily). Now remove the six screws from around the metal shielding
ensuring that non drop into a crevice, remove shield, remove ram, unplug
HD & CD drive. The CD & HD are held in a caddy kept in place by four big
screws, not the small four ones holding the HD in place, but the four
that are recessed more in the bowels, remove thoses, you can now remove
the caddy and swap the CD drive over...
[1] As in there are slot loading DVD drives, they'll fit, I've never
fitted one and wouldn't really recommend it, check xlr8yourmac.com and
see if any one has fitted one successfully first...
